Big Fish Gig

Hi All,

Last night (Sat 11th Aug Kevin 07 :)) three Warrior connected bands played at the Big Fish Tavern up around the bend at the Bribie Turnoff. Great venue and a crowd of around 100 that thinned out after 9.30 pm as the families took their kids home.

Roadworks was up first and were well received by the crowd, apart from a blonde haired singer from the following band who bellowed 'get off' from the get go :( We were happy with our performance of a mix of Paul Kelly and Lee Kernagan songs in our first set and then a driving set of contemporary Country Rock numbers. Its our first hit out on stage for a couple of months and we are hoping to gather some momentum now and lift our game.

Next up was 'Undercover' and the crowd really enjoyed the energy radiating off the stage. Mat, Jenny and Pauline really work well together both vocally and in their presentation. I'm not sure why they have a male pole dancer behind the keyboards but, shrug, thats their choice. :) Musically the group was tight and the highlight for me was "Love Shack".. it was both visually and vocally really entertaining and had all toe-tapping.

The final band was 'Pleasure and Pain', Tim Hoffman's 'Divynals' tribute show. These guys with Tammy as Chrissy really put on a great show. Last night though the crowd had thinned by the time they came on and the PA wasn't suitable for their loud and proud act. I felt that they have a great act that deserves a concert setting and a small pub setting doesn't do them justice. I can't mention names but when 'Chrissy' sang 'I Touch Myself' a lot of females jumped up and began dancing ruining the view of the stage :( Ric Grudzinskas from Roadworks and Undercover had tears in his eyes and was seen to be mumbling under his breath 'why now, Lord, why now!' Poor fellow!

We are awaiting some feedback from the Pub management which will be the review that counts :) Big thanks to our Sound Guy Mark Walker. He does a great job as always!

Cheers,
bob
