Fat Chance NYE in Buderim

I was invited to join up for this gig because Justin (the usual bass player) was unable to attend. It was a private party in the hills but they set up for 50 guests and it was a real party. The guests came as characters from the entertainment world: we saw Fred and Wilma from the Flintstones, Nana Mouskouri, Steve Irwin, Hugh Hefner, quite a few 'not too famous' people (like the Professor from Gilligan's Island) and my favourite, the Invisible Man - althogh he may not have shown up!

We set up in a corner and did our best with difficult 'stage' sound. We played some dinner music as the guests trickled in fairly late, then wound it up for dancing as the evening wore on. The audience probably didn't notice but we made a few mistakes (well, I did); then again they would not have noticed some great moments. But they had a ball and would not let us go, we played 4 or 5 encores and finished at around 0100! It was a long night and the bump out was tough but we did it and had a relaxing drive back to Brissie, including a random breath test (they were testing everyone, so it was not too random).

An exhausting but enjoyable night. Let's hope this year is the same. I'd like to thank the guys in the band for asking me to play: it made my night.

Cheers,

Fat Chance

Hey Big Al

You are no slouch yourself and no stranger to "The Fat" having played bass with the legendary Mike Shaw in many theme shows with the late James "Animal" Wood who was probably there on NYE in spirit.

I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing 'Fat Chance" do their thing as headliners on November 27th @ Rock Central, so it's no wonder the punters were mesmerised on NYE.

Super classy vocals in the soul/R & B Genre really distinguish this band, along with a very tight rhytmn section that just begs for a small horn section to be added on occasions.

Your healer has offered his services on "Smooth Operator" at some future point when the constellations are right and heavenly bodies have aligned themselves correctly.

They've certainly had their share of bad luck over the past year and rarely performed any gigs outside of rehearsals. Despite all this, they put their hands up to assist 'PlanBe" do a gig @ Arana Hills Leagues Club last December that impressed the Executive Committee who make the decisions on "Hiring & Firing" Live Bands.

We will always be grateful for the favour which got us out of hot water when we didn't have 'Frenchie" who was attending a wedding interstate.

Your Healer says ......Go "The Fat", full throttle and ignore the cholesterol.

A Class Act .....keep watching them !!

Cheers
