Stray Cats coming to Oz

Postby Lodger on Sat Jul 26, 2008 11:32 am

Hey Gang,

I'm excited! The legendary Stray Cats are touring Oz early 2009. As far as I'm concerned these guys are the Beatles of rockabilly and not to be missed. They single-handedly started a world-wide resurgence of rockabilly in the 80s and Brian Setzer is one of the best guitarists I have EVER seen. And not forgetting Lee Rocker who made the double bass hip and Slim Jim Phantom who did the same with stand-up drumming.

You can't see the original Beatles performing but at least you can still see the Cats. This might be the last time though as they're saying it's their Farewell Tour. Do yourselves a favour and get there. I will be.

Here's a couple of Youtube links to whet the appetite. The first one is the original clip of Stray Cat Strut:

The second is one of Setzer's side projects featuring an unbelievable Mark Winchester on bass. He's better than Lee Rocker in my opinion - which is saying something.

Somebody pass me a valium!
